A family-owned news source for the Colorado Springs Westside from 2004 to 2019, when the owners retired.

Created and run by Kenyon and Therese Jordan, the Westside Pioneer covered Colorado Springs Westside news from 2004 to 2019. For the first 10 years (January 2004-December 2013), it was a weekly print newspaper with an online story/photo archive. From January 2014 to February 2019, the Jordans offered the Pioneer as a news service consisting of daily online updates and a print issue every two months.
The paper's four-page Farewell Edition in February 2019 summarized the owners' reasons for ending the paper and deciding not to sell it. The link to that column is http://westsidepioneer.com/Articles/021819/LastEdition.html. We are grateful to the many readers who have since taken the time to thank us for our years of publishing.
The button below allows access to all the Pioneer archives. They can be searched by date, category or key words.

  • Archive note 1: There is no charge to view the archives or even to copy material from them. But please bear in mind that even though the Pioneer is no longer in operation, all its stories and photos are copyrighted, so please credit the source if any copied materials are to be republished.
  • Archive note 2: Westside Pioneer articles bylined “Westside Pioneer article” were written by Kenyon Jordan. He was also the editor on articles identified as “Westside Pioneer/press release” or “From a press release.” Regarding photography, Kenyon took most of the photos. Therese, who mainly handled the paper's advertising, graphic arts and finances, shot several dozen pictures herself, frequently of school events. Their sons, Travers and Rioux Jordan, also contributed occasional pics. In most cases, the Archives photo credit reads “Westside Pioneer photo.”
  • Archive note 3: Many articles show an e-mail address at the bottom, to allow news-related questions. That address is no longer active. An updated address is info@westsidepioneer.com.
  • Archive note 4: Travers, owner of Techno Guy Computers, built the Pioneer website and continues as webmaster for its archives. Any archive questions can be sent to travers@technoguycomputers.com.
